Default X300 front fog light issue

Hi all both my front fog lights have stopped working. The fuse in the LH engine bay (15Amp) is ok and both bulbs are ok. Now I have 12v going to pin 1 when the ignition is turned on but when I turn the front fog light switch on I was expecting to see 12v to pin 3 or 5 but I am not. The relay doesn’t click when the switch is turned on. I have swapped the relays around but still the same problem. Any advice on this ?

not sure if you know this or not but the headlights need to be on for the fog lights to come on
atleast to the parklights.

no worries. i always ask the obvious questions as i have learnt that nothing is a stupid question.
sometimes people miss the most obvious thing and we should never assume. always just start from the most basic.

so you said you swapped the relays. did you swap them with each other LH and RH or did you swap them with other known working ones? like headlights or something?

Good morning mate
I thought there was only one relay on a 1997 xj 3.2 x300 and that was behind the left hand headlight?
the relay next to the fog relay on the LH side was the left hand headlight (dipped) which is working so I swapped them two around and the fog relay worked just fine when placed in the headlight relay position. So the relay must be working.
Now on the relay socket I found an ignition live 12v supply and but when I turned on the front fog lights by the switch inside I could not find another 12v pin at all on the reply socket. I hope this makes sense?

Do check the wiring going to the relay holder, as this can become corroded.

Hi all just an update. I got annoyed trying to fix the fog lights using the original wiring so I made my own system using the original switch as well and all is working as it should
