Default X300 moonroof issue

All:
Yesterday I attempted to close my moonroof by pushing the close button once and it almost closed but automatically opened all the way again. I tried it again and it did the same thing. I then held the close button and I heard a pop but it almost closed. Now it is effectively closed but I can hear the outside air whistling as I drive and I see that the rear part of the roof is depressed slightly and the air sounds like it's at the front of the moonroof. It rained on the car and there appeared to be no water intrusion.

I removed the roof sunglass holder/map light console and tried to manually close the roof until it "seats" in the final position but the screwdriver fails to move the moonroof. Additionally, the button does not open the roof the "vent" position so that I can see all of the mechanical railing, arms, etc.

The roof still opens back and forth (but not the vent position) but does not complete the final seating position. I've applied silicone spray to the rails as far as I can but still no fix.

The roof motor is running fine so it must be a mechanical issue.

Any thoughts on DIY repair?

The photo shows front of moonroof to the left, rear to the right.

Thanks,

It sounds like something is jamming.

Yor probably want to at least remove the inner panel so you can get a good look.

The "sunroof" is the same as in the X308, so you may wish to have a look around in that section for the various PDF that have been posted for diagnostics and repair.

Thanks, Plums, will try to have a look tonight, but I didn't know I could remove the panels with the roof in the closed position - thought it had to be in the vent position. Will update status when I can get to it.

It has to be in the vent position.

Jaguar considers this a 'sliding roof' but most will call it a sunroof.
A moonroof is a clear glass outer panel.

Finally got around to checking out the sliding roof after work today and got it fixed. I used a high powered flashlight and really inspected the tracks. I found 2 very small pieces of plastic near the front driver's side that apparently prevented the roof from closing completely. Easy fix. Tip: keep those tracks perfectly clean.
