Default X300 Wiper issues

Hi all, wiper works only at Fast speed and doesn't stop automatically on default position which makes driving in the rain absolute nightmare. So far I replaced the stalker itself in the steering column and just replaced the wiper motor but the problem remains. I remember checking the fuses initially and were all good that's why proceeded to replace those parts but have I missed a relay or a particular fuse? Any help appreciated.

There are 2 relays in the system with one being for fast / slow if I recall

Inside the thin metal cover just aft of the wiper motor mounting is a gearbox with screws to hold the cover on

There is a " park " switch that may be hidden from view that must make to park the blades

It will be the brown rusted cover in the pic , the micro switch is not shown in the parts pile

This tiny micro switch is sensitive to getting the correct little red button " throw " or depression dimension and a normal open or normal closed version

Easier try is the relays as you have done the stalk switch

The motor I put in was guaranteed to be working so most probably it's not the switch so do you know which relays are those?

They are large relays in the engine compartment and if 7606 part numbered there are swapping option as long as not the same 2 wiper relays

See page 17

I just replaced both relays with good ones and no change then I saw the condition of the cable behind them. Seems like needs a good clean and soldering.

UPDATE - replacing the rotten wire to relay 5 made absolutely no differet so decided to unwrap the wiring loom and found a cut blue wire to relay 6 so I soldered it but it made the wiper run in slow speed by itself while the key wasn't even in the ignition! Then looked again at relay 6 and somebody was there before soldering the yellow wire to ground putting a fuse in-between. So now the wire works non stop until I pull the aftermarket fuse which disables it. My question is where does that yellow wire originally go to? I really have to sort out this mess but need your guidance.

Relay 5 yellow wire?

Aftermarket fuse

Rotten wire replaced to relay 6

i have no idea why someone has wired direct to fuse box power. must have been some problem.
the yellow wire is not soldered to ground.
it is connected direct to the power bus.
positive power at the fuse box. not grounding at an earth point.

but there are 2 relays. the first controls power an park function, the second controls the speed.
power relay clicks on, sends power to the speed relay which then sends power to the motor to move at the set speed.

you will need to follow the wiring diagram and return the wiring to how it should be from factory and then work out what to do if there is still a problem of some sort.

Thank you for the explanation. As you see I'm not the best with wiring and don't really know how to read diagrams but looking at this one do you think them 2 relays must be connected by that Yellow wire?
My thinking is that by replacing the broken wire and resoldering the blue one I just have to put things back as they were originally and it should work so remove that power bus and and solder the yellow wire from relay 6 to the cut yellow wire to relay 5 and pray?

yeah.
follow the diagram, get the wires connected as per factory and then we will see.

then we can see if this bodgy wiring was hiding another problem that we can then diagnose and fix,
or it may work as intended.
but yeah def needs to be put pack as per diagram before further troubleshooting.

reading wiring diagrams is something that is quite simple to understand. just takes a little time, i like doing it as it is very logical.
have had to check wiring on a few issues on my car myself.
