After my recent wiper motor replacement I decided to post the parts sequence for anyone who needs it.
INSTALL THE MOTOR INTO THE HOUSING
Note the shorter machine screw fits the center hole. Install the 3 screws first with the arm out of the way. Then install the center screw and tighten all 4 screws.
NOW INSTALL THE ASSEMBLED MOTOR AND HOUSING INTO THE CAR
Here is the parts sequence. Note the 2 pieces of paper which represent a. Body b: Large Plastic Trim that goes across the car over the installed motor before attaching the wiper blade.
Position the motor/housing in the car so the spindle is just below the hole in the body. Install the bushing with the embedded washer down over the spindle. Push wiper spindle through the body, while aligning housing. Take extra care around hoses and wiring. I found it beneficial to remove the two O2 sensor harness connectors. Be sure to identify their respective positions.
The spindle is now through the body. Assemble 2 parts as shown *** and tighten loosely. Allow motor/housing some wiggle room.
Install the 3 machine screws (not shown) that retain the top of the housing to the car. Do not tighten. Leave some movement for the next step.
Wiggle the housing so that the bottom 3 holes are over the retaining "studs".
Slide the retainers (well greased) over the retaining "studs".
Tighten the upper 3 machine screws.
Tighten the spindle retaining parts referenced above ***.
THIS IS AN IMAGE SHOWING HOW TO PULL THE SLIDING RETAINERS OFF THE "STUDS" WHEN REMOVING THE MOTOR/HOUSING . IF THE STUDS ARE CLEAN AND THE RETAINERS WELL GREASED THEY SHOULD SLIDE BACK OVER WITH RELATIVE EASE. APPLY SOME PRESSURE WITH YOUR FINGERS WHERE THE HOUSING GOES OVER EACH STUD. REMINDER - WATCH HOSES AND WIRING!
The motor is now installed.
NOW FOR THE TRIM AND WIPER BLADE.
Slide oval piece over spindle.
Install long plastic trim (represented by paper) over the oval piece and screw it to the body.
Install wiper blade.
DONE!
