X308 seats in an X300?
Given how similar the shells are, has anyone fitted X308 seats into an X300? Or does the later car use mounting points that aren't present in the earlier shell?
Yes, I am trying to find a lazy way of fixing a broken mounting point!

I'd say they look pretty much the same, at least that's what I can tell from the pictures, and since x308 and x300 use the same shell, then I don't see a reason why would they have different mounting points... But I might be wrong, that is just personal opinion.
Absolutely - there are some that look nigh on identical. But I've not heard of anyone doing it, & I haven't heard any tales of broken mounts on the X308 seats either, so I'm suspicious that something is different...
Ooh, looks promising... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...en-seat-68479/
I'd rather have found something that said an X308 seat would fit but had a redesigned frame that wouldn't break though!

Oh anything's possible - I just wondered whether it was worth keeping an eye out for local X308 seats as an easier alternative to welding mine up! I'd also like heated seats tbh, so even though I'll probably dig the welder out over Christmas, an upgrade would still be tempting.
They will bolt up - I looked at X300 seats (to get lighter manual bases) in an X308 for the Phateon,
Every X308 I've looked at had had broken seat brackets though. Seems like previous owners often come in "value" size. :-(

In the mean time, it's out with the welder then.
I didn't check pinouts etc (I was looking to swap the other way to manual seats) but all the switches/relays etc are built into the seat itself and you can power them back and forth by applying power to a couple of pins and using the switches. How the memory works is a mystery. (X308 powers the seat to a position that's coded to the key used; I assume that this would go over the serial comms ports etc)
X308 seats were also absurdly heavy compared with the manual ones in an X300. Don't give yourself a hernia removing them...

From my experience, I would have to lean towards the seats being the same. I know they used exactly the same bolts, and covers, and modules on the tracks.
The newer seats have side impact airbags so there is an extra set of wires underneath but I think they have their own two pin connector separate from the rest of the seat and body harnesses.
The seat modules themselves are the same from 95 to 01ish (at least the memory modules). The potentiometers for the memory system are exactly the same from 95-03.
I have seen some seats break at the front up/down pivot and it's not an easy spot to weld. Some creativity is necessary.

Well I had the weekend to myself so amongst many other jobs, I pulled the seat out and welded up the mounting point. It had been done before, and I'd hope that I've done a more sturdy job - we'll see! Either way, even re-doing it would barely be more effort than swapping a new seat in; thanks to where it's broken there was no need to separate the bracket from the seat.
The down side of having a properly adjustable seat, is that my wife will now be able to drive the car...

my pivot broke on my XJR I just pulled the seats out rolled up the leather and welded them I also welded a large thick washer as well for structural support did all the front sets at the same time as I eventually will be sitting in either
I also modded the seat rails to give me and extra inch and half travel being 6,3 tall the car always felt cramped seats are awesome now seating position is great
Just need a new Battery she has been sitting since October haven't been here but on the bright side the battery is under warranty But that's another storey
