It's a bit pricey to me but if it's like new condition and full accessory package at least Sovereign ,it can be a good deal too . Don't go for the late model for the two following reasons .
1-If you mean X308 ('98 and up )by the late model I would stay don't look at it .Still, '01 and upare good reliable models . Nikasilisssue can be a real problem
2- This is rather a cosmetical issue than mechanic , I prefer '97 X300 to '98 and up X308 .Because'95-97 models have nicer door trims,gaugesand the chrome around the bumpers .Yet you get more goodies with the X308 like rain sense wipers, more refined car phone and so on

Mechanically X300s are realible especially straight 6 cylinder is a bullet proof ,still it might have some small problems like cracked manifolds .No big deal
Interior is nice and really refined from XJ40 . I just find power seat adjuster buttons a bit flimsy lol . A friend of minetook it off and secured it a few times lol

Can't be that bad... after all it's almost an XJ40! Great parents I'd say.
