Default XJ8 -> XJ6 Door Swap

Greetings all, someone hit my 1995 XJ6L VDP a bit ago & i took the payout. I have a 1998 XJ8L that i'm planning on taking the rear door from and swapping so the panel is restored on my XJ6, I just had some questions about fitment.

Does anyone know if the internals of the door are the same like clip types, and locations, same screws going through handle to door, same door cable and door connectors as well as window motor connectors? The doors are seemingly the same on the frame, outside, window size etc just worried when I swap the internal door panels if it'll be an exact fit.

Also does anyone have a pdf or information on if it's possible to swap the door handle itself? I have a chrome doorhandle on my XJ6 and white on the XJ8 that I'm wanting to swap. Thank you for any and at all advice!

Most young people dont use forums, so recruitment is low - the x300's are also getting older, so fewer of the old owners around every year as cars are scrapped or sold.
Our only hope is that "big tech" social media gets so bad, some future generation will look at forums with nostalgic eyes and come flocking back

As for the doors - a quick search does suggest the metal part of the doors are the same, so you can probably remove everything from the x308 door and then transplant the parts from your x300 doors to make them work.

Truly accurate. It's been making me quite sad, however as a 26 year old owner I've been pushing my friends and community around me to buy older and participate in more forums like this. Hopefully some traction can come soon, if not I may try and build some because these places only thrive if there is plenty of active helpers. Either way we will wait and see!

Thank you kindly regarding the door segment, I'm pretty sure you're correct and I'll hopefully find out this week. Just haven't had the time due to a shitty shop having mangled the fuel line system when replacing a pump I couldn't diagnose. Had to get some fuel lines off a junk car & that's no easy job, also had to fix incorrect fuel filter installed and a soft hose being used in place of their damaged line. Whacky week!

There's an additional new problem, which is that Large Language Models (LLMs) have scraped the entire internet and via AI front ends provide answers to chatbot questions. The reality is that the LLMs are literally sourcing answers to questions having hoovered up forums like this. The problem now is that no new forum entries = no learning by AI.

I'm a big fan of forums/wikis because they are searchable, where Faceberg and other social sites aren't.
