I went to the supermarket in my XJR6 this afternoon and saw another one, sitting unattended. It has the correct 17” Sport wheels I like my car, and I am tempted to have my proper Sport wheels refurbished and fitted...
the maroon one also has no sunroof, which makes me jealous as I am 6’3” and headroom is an issue in my sunroofed car....
It's always mind-bending to suddenly happen upon a very similar X300, let alone the same kind! Last year I was going into Wally-mart, around back at the auto center, when a black X305 XJ12 came right past me and parked! I was stunned, then went over and introduced myself and we had a chat. A very friendly fellow. Unfortunately I was not in my XJ12 that day, but I showed him a picture so he wouldn't think I was crazy.
I bet the owner of the red XJR would be jealous of your manual version! I do like the 17" sport wheels.
Both are very clean and handsome. Are all Jaguars well taken care of down south? The original 17" wheels are iconic enough and very much look like 18".
There is something about the original wheels...... I have retained them on mine. They are the painted rather than diamond turned option, and survive in excellent condition some 170,000 miles later, unlike the alloys on much newer cars I have had which needed refurbished.
17" wheels were the biggest diameter wheels ever fitted on a Jaguar at that time, and something Jaguar felt the need to promote in the XJR brochure. 17" wouldnt get you very far in a game of top trumps these days!

17s look gigantic on an X300 because the car is about 2 feet tall.
recently it’s been a race to the bottom on how badly you can make a top of the line luxury car ride
I hope not, as mine looks exactly the same!!
The red car seems higher at the front than the rear, which obviously isn’t right. The slope is affecting it a bit, and it may just be that the slope it is on is a bit steeper than the bit the blue car is on.
XJR always sits lower than the NA version. Also, the front and rear shocks/coil springs may have been replaced at different times, and are available as aftermarket or factory used. They would undergo some settlement before one can correct the leveling by adding shims to the bump stops.
