The base MSRP on XJR was pushing $70k making a pre owned one quite a deal considering what you are getting for the money today.

All similar MY (01-03) high end luxo cars have taken a big hit on depreciation. When most people decide to buy a used euro luxury sedan, majority looks to BMW and BEnz. That's the only reason why the Germans' prices are higher than those of jags. Those in the know have utilized this opportunity in their favor and got themselves a great car on the cheap. You can view that as sort of 'insider trading' ))))

 

My 2002 XJR was 72.5k. At that time you could get them for 65K -- the VDP's cost more and I remember looking at a white one and it being offered for almost 10k off list. I end up turning in my older one with 100+k that needed about 6-7k worth of work and taking a one payment lease on the XJR -- Ford ended up loosing a lot of money on the leases. I bought it at the end.

Both BMW and MB had come out with a host of new models at that time and the x300 had been out since mid/ late 1994.

 

Sorry I havent updated lately Ive been slightly busy, well the 2000 XJR I wanted to look at sold before I could look at it. I found another one a 03' which was beautiful and priced at $7500 Im still thinking of that one. Just havent pulled the trigger yet. A woman came into my work with a 2000 XJ8 with 88 thousand on the clock so I sat in it and looked around got a feel for it and I really do love the Jags =). Although she said a couple years ago she had to sink almost 4 thousand into it for some repair but she forgot what it was, (she was a old lady). So, I'm still on the search gentlemen. Waiting for my 02 or 03 all black XJR to pop up. I very well might grab the one for $7500 if he will negotiate some. Beautiful cars though I fell in love after sitting in it lol. Now it's just a waiting game. I wont even consider a BMW or Benz of that year they are horrible piles lol for the most part.

 

I'm actually glad the 2000 sold before I could see it I'd rather have the 02' or 03' models.
