I've been looking for a Super V8 in black for nearly 6 months.... IMPOSSIBLE to find. I passed up on a gold, white and grey. For some reason, black really appeals to me. Wanted to put Avos' twin screw, update the rotors and radio and i'd have my perfect car. My XJR is up near 145k miles and I just dont see the value in putting in more money into it when i'm not satisfied with the cramped rear seats.

 

there werent too many made i suppose.

worst case scenario....get a different color and get the car covered in a black vinyl wrap. ive seen a bunch of cars do this and it looks like the car was freshly painted.

 

one day i will have my XJ in gold painted. Now i had to settle for green :-)

 

You are going to have to be patient- it may take along time to find, as there were VERY few made at all, much less in Black.

788 total VDPSC's made, a mere 288 more than the 100. Maybe 50% were black, so you are looking for about 400 worldwide that fit your description.

Search "Vanden Plas Supercharged" on google daily until one shows up.

I would pay Dsnyder to take photos and look over the car for you ASAP.
I know Dave he has rebuilt a couple of XJ's and knows his way around them mechanically.
As they are so rare I would not let the distance bother you and it's coming from a club member it sounds like.

dsynder... Thank you.. I'll consider it. I was hoping for a 2003 or 2002 and less than 80k. I did find a 2001 with 90k for $8500. So if that falls through, I will contact you.

 

There was a British Racing Green '03 SV8 on eBay a few weeks ago in SoCal. The car looked a stunner and I had in fact considered buying it myself, as that's my favorite color combo. I believe he was asking $10.9K and the mileage was around 93K. You might keep a watch on eBay to see if it returns.
