Yep, as per HH shouldn't have that much trouble with lug nuts, I guess the winter salt may have played its part?

And most people over-tighten lug nuts, 75-80ftlbs is fine.

Next question......how do the calipers/rotors look?

Here's a possible issue if they were over torqued and that would be thread torque stress. Hence the reason they tell you to replace the crankshaft pulley bolt (the 275 ft lb torqued one), because of the thread tension that can weaken or distort it. Thus your nuts won't hold properly and may be more of a hazard.

But, and I say that with caution, I had to take a 4 lb maul and impact socket to a couple of mine when I first got it and it wasn't from over torquing. It was a poor metal composite that adhered the nuts to the threads. Then I had to order all new lug nuts.

Morning guys..
I just never ran into this before... What a PITA...
Everything is off rotors look like there's enough to get cut if I can find someone that still cuts rotors, calipers seem ok they all pushed in ok seals/piston boots are all intact no leaks, bleeder all broke free after soaking, front brake flex lines are dry rotted ,everything else can use a good cleaning RUST cleaning..
Ordered the new pads that CK recommend new studs, front and rear flex lines, and new lugs and new abs sensors . Next check and replace rear end fluid then check transmission fluid. ..
Not finding the transmission filter that you guys recommend.
then maybe I can take a break. ..lol.
The worse part is my antenna goes up about 4, 6 inches and clicks, and my visor only goes up and down. ...
thanks guys

I wouldn't bother with cutting rotors, they are so cheap new just replace them. Lots of choices on ebay at prices 30-50 bucks each with free shipping.

Just get zinc coated ones to prevent rusting.

Morning CK.
I had similar rotors like those from Power Stop with ceramic pads for my truck and my sons truck . I wasn't impressed I had my old one cut and put them back on.. They feel much better to me...
But we'll see this car is like my ex wife loves me spending money on her.. Always something.
You know anything about Air Compressors?
looks like the piston sized up, I got the head and belts off and sprayed the piston with penetrating oil 2 days ago... Its still full of oil , It sat for 2+ years. Can not get it to move a mm... its almost new Dewalt 60 gallon. 5hp. No compressor no sand blasting! .. Grrrrr
Anyways thanks for the input guys...

Dewalt may be assembled in the US, but they are produced in Asia with its cheap metals. The only way I've gotten around a seized piston is to either pop the head off a use a piece of wood and a maul and easily smack it. You'll probably have to hone it an at minimum lightly sand the rings or replace them.

Thanks HH.
I smacked it I cursed it then tried the ex-wife trick.. I put my left hand on my hip and give it The Look while tapping my right foot!
Didn't work on the compressor either.
so I'll look later into more disassembly.

Thanks..

The wife trick only works because of their hips...we're just not genetically designed to use that tool.

Helllo...
just a quick Hello..
Hope you guys are doing well. ....
I'm still messing with the car Not daily but when I can. I send the compressor pump out for repair , a week later I was told its not feasible.
A replacement from Dewalt is a few dollars short of a whole new one.. may just get a new 60 gallon compressor and join both takes for more run time. Other than that everything else is fine...
stay well guys..

got all 4 rotors cleaned up for 40$ he even did the inside of the rear rotors for the parking brake. Now there rusting from Bob always licking them. Ugh... lol. Later.

If those are the older ones, they're good. I believe the ones with the badly made lugs are from within the past 3-4 yrs and are the Pittsburgh ones.

Since you may be at Harbor Freight, buy one of their compressors. Probably the same as the DeWalt for half the price.

But she's lookin' good...just stop trying to feed Mint Sauce his iron via rotors..lol.

Hi guys and thanks..
Yes those are the Jackstands that were just recalled I got the email about a week ago.
That's why I put the other jack on the cross member. A few more days and I'll return them.
You may right about the HF compressor .
right now Dewalt 60 gallon on sale for 439 00 delivered. I'll look into it. Don't wanna lay it down and slide it in to the volvo. .

thanks guys

Morning guys...
Back at it... brakes done,Studs done.
Got new wheel lugs.. Got the parking brake working again.
Now while under the car to start checking transmission fluid I noticed both side of the engine wet with oil...
Off came the cam covers again!
I found the the gaskets are wet on the underside between the gasket and cover..
Not impressed with these gaskets. Too thin and ,not like a silicone gasket.
Anyways redone this time using sealant.
Also looked at the rear end to replace that fluid. . What a pita to get to the fill plug..
I'm going the to drill an access hole from the boot/trunk and stick a rubber plug in it....
so just an update.
Hope everyone is doing well! ...

Ok new day fresh eyes less bitterness.
This setup worked for me.

The 2 bottles, left what I got from the trans, right is the old brake fluid.
