Default '02 xj8 good battery/anti theft blinks/no power

Hi I am new so be nice, please! Any who I forgot to start my XJ8 for 2 weeks, I had to replace the battery almost a month ago. When I first started I had dash lights, inside lights etc, she just would not start. Went in the house came back out within 10 to 15 minutes I had nothing. I finally bought a charger from Advance Auto, the battery is fully charged after 20 minutes. I took the cables off tide them together for about 20 minutes, still nothing. The anti theft light is flashing. The key fob used to chirp, now nothing on it works either. It has gas, It sits under the carport but not with a custom cover. I am at a loss, any help I would greatly appreciate it!! It's a 2002 XJ8 with 78k miles, in awesome condition runs sweet, bought her about 5 or 6 months ago.

Hi Army!!
On the outside chance that, somehow, the 'tilt cutoff' was tripped, try to reset it. Remove the passenger side kick cover (easy to do) and press the button down on the tilt sensor. It was a problem for me and I traced circuits for three days before I realized that the tilt may have activated when I had her towed.

Good luck!!

Problem is I was only given 1 key from the dealer that I bought it from. Thank you though I see that answer a lot.

If that is the same thing as the inertia switch, then yes I did that. I found it in the floor board of the passenger side has a black top, when I pushed it was soft so it had never popped. If it is not the same as the inertia switch can you please tell me where to find it or what it looks like?

With the car having no power I cannot even reprogram the key. There's a YouTube video on how to reprogram the key from the ignition switch.

The inertia switch probably isn't at play here based on your description. It's usually on the left sidewall behind the driver's side kick cover (left). It comes into play in an accident to kill the fuel pump and other electrical stuff on sharp deceleration. I'm not a key expert, but I'm thinking your issue probably lies there.

Thanks! So the tilt switch cutoff is on the passenger side? So I guess I was resetting the inertia switch lol. The tilt switch is on the passenger side like on the right side of the floor board, in the corner? Has a black top? If that's the one when I push it just goes down, it isn't popped.

I need to find a maaaannnnnuallll lol I spend more time googling for diagrams smh. But a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!

Sounds like your key (not the fob) has to be reprogrammed. Dealer, or independent with the right computer, or a locks smith . . had a bad key once, fortunately my other key worked. Took both to the local independent shop which then reprogrammed both keys.
