I shopped long and hard for brake parts cheaper than the *******. For those of you with the R1 package with Brembo's and BBS Milan wheels, you know that the dealers want $1600 just for front pads and rotors. (Or more!!!)

I ordered front and rear pads and front rotors from www.europartsdirect.com out of New York for $244 including free ground shipping. Not bad considering the rotor set weighed 54 pounds.

Pads are Mintex or TRW brand and the rotors are from Eurospare.

I am not connected to this company in any way, but am a very happy customer. Shipped the day I ordered and arrived in good condition. Required nothing but ordering and waiting for UPS to drop it on my doorstep.

 

Pssst, (in my quiet voice) we don't call them '*******s' around here, our jag techs are often employed by the dealers, and since knowledge is key to this particular forum, we show as much respect for them as possible.

Good link to R rotors, those are hard to find. Stop back by and let us know how they fit...can you check dimensions on the existing ones versus this too for any differences that may be measurable?

 

Point taken, my apologies. I've worked at 8 different dealersips as a technician, (motorcycle and car) never myself took offense to the term. I will not use it here again.

The rotors are a direct match to OEM measurements, fit perfectly and are balanced judging by the machining on the outer edge, just like the OEM's. I got both the TRW and Mintex pads. I would recommend the TRW's as they are a little more nicely manufactured and a little more expensive. They have the backing plate and are chamfered, the Mintex ones aren't.

So far about 600 miles on them and no noises or wierdness. I do believe the TRW pads are a little more aggressive, I've noticed I need to use less pressure on the pedal than before with the stock Brembo pads.

Has anyone else had troubles getting off the hub fitted wheels and rotors due to rust? I spent nearly 5 hours getting the front wheels and rotors off. I used heat, pressure and finally a 5 foot prybar to finally get the rotors off. To keep this from happening in the future, I bead blasted the face of the hubs, cleaned the wheel surfaces, drilled and tapped two "helper" holes in the new rotors so I can use a couple of 8mm bolts to press them off in the future. I also painted a tiny, tiny film of anti-sieze to the inside face of the rotor where it meets the hub.
