06 XJ8 overheating issue

Default 06 XJ8 overheating issue
06 XJ8:
The coolant spilled out after I forgot to put the cap on the coolant reservoir and drove it couple miles. When I realized I filled the coolant and ran it again and the car overheats now.
Heat doesn't work. after shutting it off the fans keep running for couple mins and the coolant is real hot when I try to open. Heater doesn't work too.
Your suggestion is needed where should I start from? Thanks

It may be a good time to check the thermostat and flush the system. I doubt a couple of miles would cause what you are reporting.

Do they have a bleed valve? Or what will be the simple way to bleed it? I am not a mechanic but can do the basic things. Thanks
