09 XJ8L 4.0 overheating problem
I bought this vehicle late last year and on a short trip, the temperature red lined while on the interstate and I pulled over as soon as I could. The cap on the radiator was blown off and coolant was all over. Towed to dealership. Bottom line, the engine was blown and the tech stated that someone had put stop leak in the engine. The previous owner had immaculate records and all work was done at a Jag dealership. Fast forward to now.... Bought a used engine and after replacing the radiator, all hoses, water pump, thermostat, etc, etc. engine still overheats.
I can drive it around 50 mph for 10 miles or so and it seems fine, then it overheats. If I let it sit at idle, it overheats at 35 minutes. The cats and complete exhaust system does not show any blockage. My mechanic is a specialist in almost all foreign cars and is a master certified tech. Would like to hear what you might have to offer as a solution ?? This is a lovely classic and I want to drive and enjoy it !!
