The small rectangle notifications window center bottom dash board is loosing its color surface (peeling away?) so I can't read the messages properly anymore - can this window be taken out and re colored or treated in some way? (I can get the dash out easily but then see its soldered in and cant find any reference to its details to buy a new one)
Also the tiny led bulb soldered into the dash circuit board is blown behind the headlight low beam green panel so is there anywhere I can buy a replacement bulb and if so what is the part number or size/voltage/watts ?
I was able to fix exactly what you're describing with a bit of care - the LCD screen is mounted between the black gauge label layer and the clear plastic layer. If you have a spare cluster, you can remove the gauge panel, removing the covering, and carefully prying the label layer from the plastic backing, then pull the display out from it and swap it into yours. Though at that point you're most likely better off just replacing that panel. My XJR has a special panel, but the LCD is the same, so I was able to get it out of a junked XJ8 cluster.
The backlight for the headlight low beams indicator is actually a replacable incandescent micro bulb, you just need to remove the PCB from the cluster assembly and get at it from that side.
I'm not doing the best at explaining this stuff right now, but I'll get a few pictures tomorrow that will make more sense.
gauge cluster with LCD removed LCD on the right was delaminating - the display worked OK but there was yellow gunk creeping in around the edges. Cover/antireflective glass completely came off on removal low beam indicator bulb circled in red
Hi Thank you very much for your replies and images. I thought the hi beam and low beam bulbs were the two small ones to the left of the one circled - led led5 & led13? What are those 2 for then?
