1998 XJ8 sterring column issue
I have just bought a 1998 XJ8 from an older fellow who bought it new. It only has about 45K miles on it and is in very good shape.
The one problem I have is the power steering column has an issue when I push the adjuster button to move the steering wheel up. It barely moves and an audible click behind the clock happens. It works smoothly in all other directions. I figure it must either be the switch or a relay that is tripping. Any advice.
Also my local euro car mechanic/dealer told me the 1998 XJ8 engines where no good and I should expect it to blow up. I checked dealer records and found it had the air flow meter replaced, the timing chain guides upgraded and the transmission overhauled. Your opinion and input will be appreciatged.
