Having trouble getting new upper wishbone bushings in. Does anyone have some pictures for a install? are they suppose to just press in? Thanks Vinman.
Hi Vinman,
The upper control arm bushings, Parts 2 in the diagram below, just press in to the outer ends of the control arm bores. Before you try, be sure to clean any rust or grime from the bores. A good trick is to put the bushings in the freezer for 30 minutes before you install them to slightly shrink their diameter. Another trick is to use a little soapy water as a lubricant.
A C-clamp or bench vise and a suitably-sized socket can be used as a press if necessary. It is not advisable to try to tap the bushings in with a hammer due to the risk of damaging the rubber-to-metal bond.
