Is the fog light switch in my 98 VDP supposed to illuminate when I turn the lights on? The indicator LED's light up but my thoughts are that the switch should be lit as well like the trip computer. If so, how can I fix it?

 

Yes, it should light up. Your trip computer buttons on the right hand side should also light up. To remove it you need to pull the wood fascia off from the instrument panel. Just pull it straight backwards.... it's a bit unnerving, but trust me, it does just pull off.

Then wiggle the switch loose (it just clips in)

To remove it completely, pull the wiring loom out and disconnect the connector.

When you turn the switch around to see the back of it, there is a small bulb holder and bulb in the middle of the switch. Take this out then try and find the bulb type that fits. I couldn't get one, so I just used a small general purpose 12v bulb and did away with the bulb holder and just soldered the bulb to the tracks (You'll see what I mean when you get the bulb holder out of the switch)

This wasn't a very elegant solution but it works.

 

Bulb is T4 twistlock type. When your remove the original, keep the little blue rubber bonnet for the new bulb. That's what gives it the greeny/blue colour. Jaguar is the best place for them.

Aside from the gauges, clock, radio, climate control, fog lamp switch, and trip computer - is anything else supposed to illuminate on the dash? What about the vents?

 

no vents, no steering wheels buttons lit. Sport and Cruise control buttons do.

 

What about the ashtray and ignition switch? I pulled the bulb from my fog light switch but the blue condom tore apart when I tried to pull it off. Can I get those from Jaguar?
