Hello I have a 1998 xjr that wont crank. I stick the key into the ignition and turn it and nothing happens. I can hear a click on the passenger side under the hood. I pull the key out and it act like the key is still in it( key alarm). It will not go out of park. I push the unlock button and the trunk doesn't unlock. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Is the battery flat?

 

The battery is fine. It starts when i stick the key in the hole on the j gate and put it in neutral

 

The car may not know when it is in Park. Can be caused by a bad Park micro switch located in the gear shift indicator module.
