1999 XJ8 - P1600 & P1647 code with misfire above ~50mph
My 1999 XJ8L 4.0 started running rough and Check Engine light came on. Checked codes and came back with P0332 (Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input-Bank 2), P1647 (B bank upstream oxygen sensor), and P1600 (Loss of KAM Power; Open Circuit).
What I've done:
-Replaced O2 sensor (the one on the right, passenger side, top of the catalytic converter with the grey connector - Bosch 15627).
-Replace knock sensor on driver's side.
-Cleared codes, and drove car around for awhile.
Car is still running rough and am still getting P1647 and P1600. The "running rough" is like a misfire/engine drops out second repeatedly, especially when going above 50mph, and sometime when accelerating normally from a stop.
I'm hoping someone will have some additional insight into this, especially the P1600 code as I'm not finding much information on it in this forum.
Thank you!

A 1600 isn't even listed, dang,.... XJ6/8/12 ? XJR ? XJS 4.0/6.0L ? XK8 4.0L (1995 ? 2003) ? OBD Trouble Codes ...at least the 1647 is.
When you do a Bing or Google search, put Jaguar in front of the P code because each manufacturer has a more specific reason and cure for the failure.

I can't seem to find much information for the P1600. The KAM is defined as the Keep Alive Memory. I'm not really sure what that is pointing to. I would recommend doing a hard reset to restore default values, clear the codes and then give it a drive and see what returns.
As for the 1647 that is the Bank B upstream sensor. That sensor is located on the DRIVERS side of the engine. For the XJ the passenger side is the A bank.

Thanks for that info. Looks like I replaced the O2 sensor on the wrong side - the info I read must have been for UK cars.
Can you please detail the correct way to do a hard reset? I've read numerous comments on this forum about how to do it and I'm still not clear on what is the correct (and safe) way to do it.

Simply remove the leads off of the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes and reattach. Here's a pdf to follow, its more detailed than your asking but shows the reset procedure.
Thank you - this is an excellent resource!
I've garaged the car for now because of how hot it is, so it will be a few weeks before I get around to working on it again. I'll replace the correct O2 sensor, test the electrical, and do the hard reset, and then post an update on how things are going.
