Hi Guys im New to the forum! My 1999 Xk8 its goin into restricted performance, transmission fault! Barely moves wen trans fault lights come on! But it only does it sometimes! I have took it to 3 diff shops that says its a sensor and they don't know exactly witch 1! It can't be the trans its self Because I can start off in neutral and go straight to drive and it drives fine! I picked it up from the trans shop today and it drove perfect!

If we're talking about ZF tranny (NA engine) then it can be a famous transmission issue with a valve body and an A-drum failure. Soon enough you'll have only 5th gear left. Check fault codes, if there's "incorrect gear ratio" codes present - prepare to spend some money on a transmission. Sorry.

It certainly sounds like your transmission may be at fault, but before writing it off go to one of the automotive stores and have the battery load tested. A weak battery can cause a number of incorrect codes and apparent faults.
