2000 VP Stuck in Valet Mode
I just purchased a 2000 Vanden Plas and it seems to be stuck in valet mode. I have two black keys and one green (valet) key but I can't figure out how to get it out of valet. The car did not come with a keyless entry pad and I'm not sure if it should have. I just picked up the car Saturday and am trying to figure everything out before I get it on the road. Any help would be great.

use the black key...close all the doors.. and the trunk.. and cycle the key in the door lock on the drivers door.. lock it then unlock..(make sure you hold it long enough so all doors lock and unlock). if you hold it long enough you will see the global opening feature.. as well..
if that doesn't work..open trunk with black key in the trunk unlock barrel.. it;s in the badge vanden plas.

I have tried using the black key to activate global lock and unlock and that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Also, I can open the trunk with the key, the point is that I can't open the trunk with the button on the dash or the Jaguar crest button on the trunk. I don't want to have to turn off the car and open the trunk with the key every time I want to get at the trunk. Thanks for the tip though.

Oh. In that case it is in valet mode....LOL.
Forget the latch problem.
If you cannot get it out of valet mode with key, it may be a trip to dealer.
Try disconnecting battery for 5 minutes and see if valet mode shuts off. When you reconnect battery, dont press valet button. Just try and open trunk. This is why having the remote is important.

You can buy them here http://originalkeyless.com/category.sc?categoryId=29
There are numerous threads on here about how to programme them. However, if your car is stuck in valet mode, you may have to take them to the dealer for programming.
