None of the techs on JF like the aftermarket metal impeller waterpumps.

I have heard this multiple times. It's interesting, I work with heavy industrial machinery for a living, including every style of pump ever made, and the material of the impeller should make absolutely no difference as long as the impeller is shaped the same. I would have to assume that the metal ones are cut different and that leads to the cavitation problem. Too bad, all things being equal metal impellers are usually a better choice than plastics in clear liquid service just because of their longevity. I am not having any cooling problems so I have decided to leave the current pump in place anyway. I guess its a non-issue for me.

As an update on the starting problem: I have not had another problem since I cleaned the MAF and changed the plugs. I believe I just flooded the engine and had to work my way out of that situation. I have started to clean the MAF at every oil change and that seems to be keeping this problem away.

remove all of the ignition coils and take a look in the holes with a flashlight. do you see any oil? if you do than its time to replace valve cover gasket and seals.
