Default 2000 XJR Struts Replacement

good morning to all the great members of this awesome forum. I'm new to Jaguar. I just recently acquired a 2000 XJR and I love it thus far. It's got power and style...black/black.
Question:
I need to replace the struts...especially the front ones. Are the struts for the XJR different from the other trims or are they the same? I've seen where they are listed as XJ8 and XJR together. I've also seen them listed separately. Are they the same?

is it a DIY kind of work? I'm pretty handy and have worked on a couple of my previous cars.

Thank you very much!!!!!

Hello & Welcome to the Forum.
Are you asking about XJR Shock Absorbers Replacement?

I know I still not sure myself about the difference between a strut and a Shock Absorber.

Anyway, I created a PDF file from the JTIS21 Shop Repair CD that shows the components of the Front Suspension and the Rear Suspension for you to view the illustrations and the list of components.

2000 XJ Front & Rear Suspension Components.pdf

I also created a JPEG file of the Rear Optional Equipment Parts for Ride Level Strut & Spring:

Hope these files help:

Thanks a million for the prompt response. That taught me a lot of things i didn't know about a suspension system. All I knew prior to your post was the shock absorber or struts.
My car tends to be pulling strong to either side if I don't hold on to the steering wheel. I have just had an alignment done 2 weeks ago and that didn't fix the problem. After looking at the pdf file you posted, I'm begining to wonder what may need to be replaced to correct the pulling to left or right.
thank you.

Question still remains: are the struts/shock absorber different for 2000 XJ8 and 2000 XJR? Are the struts (front/rear) from either trim interchangeable with the other?
Please help answer this question.

Thank you very much.
