2001 Jaguar VDP
Hi,
I believe the VDP is almost identical mechanically to the XJ8 except for some extra chrome & trim, etc.
A month ago I replaced an alternator that was shorted to ground. After replacement, the Radio and Power seats would not work(in manual mode).
I searched this forum before becoming a member and a post directed me to the fuse location for the radio. The fuse was blown and now radio is in operation. Info was very precise...Awesome!
Now am trying to locate root cause to the Power Seat operation problem. Both front seats have the same issue: they will move when I depress the memory button, but won't operate with the manual switches on the side of seats. The motors operating the seats must be ok but don't know why they won't operate when I try to adjust them manually.
Thanks for any suggestions...

1st, welcome to the forum!
Yes, the VDP and XJ8 mechanically and electrically identical, save a couple of additional minor features, if I recall.
If it will help, and if you're comfortable reading the technical content, here's the wiring diagram for your year... It will tell you how the seat controls are interconnected, starting with figure 12.1.

From the wiring diagram, the one thing that stands out to me is that the manual seat switches all receive power from a pair of fuses - Left seat is in LH Heelboard Fuse Box, fuse #8, 5A. Right seat is in RH Heelboard Fuse Box, fuse#5, 5A. I'd check these first. The memory function is powered elsewhere, so it would still work even if these fuses were blown.
