2001 XJR with Sovereign body
Mirror covers are eBay stick ons, but the original blue covers didn't look great.
I think the chrome was a no cost option at the time, but nearly all XJRs over here are black framed, and SWB.
I've not seen another in the flesh, in the US it seems to be the other way around with few black framed one.

More accurate than you might think, my o/s front arch is from an XJR, but the n/s one, as seen in the picture, is from a Daimler.
The chrome boot plinth, grille and door surrounds, I believe, are factory items.
There is a 'chrome pack' box to tick in the XJR Options book.

Hi to all,
The chrome exterior was as standard for North American cars. ROW-cars had been black framed as standard. Never knew about the chrome option to tick - and I didn't ever see an european car with this option!
@Milowokie: Did you retrofit the chrome windows frames or did the car come with it out of factory?
The Daimler grille and boot plinth can be told apart from the Sovereign design as they are fluted. In addition to this, the Daimler boot plinth can't be fitted to regular XJ8's as the Daimler plinth is shorter than the regular painted or chromed non-Daimler part and has two mounting studs less than the "regular" plinths. Means that you'll have two mounting holes left uncovered on your boot lid when replacing with a Daimler plinth.
For my taste I do really like the chrome pack that's why I retrofitted the grille, boot plinth and mirror covers to my car with genuine Jaguar chrome parts off eB**.
The front and rear windscreen surrounds are already waiting to be fitted too. But then I'll stop as I read somewhere that it's supposed to be difficult to retrofit the chrome parts to the doors , windows and rain gutters.

Mine is factory fitted UK original. Mechanic had never seen one and thought the SC engine was a modification and checked the VIN with Main dealer.

I think mine's factory too, looks like a lot of trouble to go to just to make a black framed XJR look like an ordinary XJ. Door frames, roof guttering, front and rear 'screen trim, then the grille and boot plinths.
Are the headlamp squirters, where fitted, chrome on an black XJR, they are mounted on the chrome bumper quarters?

The headlamp washer covers came as standard made of chrome for the "black" XJR's too. As are the chrome blade trims on all four corners of the bumper.
By the way: retrofitting the chrome grille and boot plinth is quite an easy task - just a few screws and fittings and there you go. Same for the mirror covers.
The screen trims are just snap-on into the screens seals.
But rain gutters, door sills and surrounds are a bit more challenging.
