Hi all. Moved the car into the garage last night as it's getting colder here in Ohio and this morning I went to start it to go to work. It cranked and went to start but then no crank and a horrible noise. Battery was showing 45% so charged it and tried again but same noise.
My next thoughts are starter, but could it be something worse?
Nearest dealer is over 30 miles away so any pointers would be great.

Do you have any codes? What is this noise you are hearing can you pinpoint it? I am attaching a link to a no start procedure that should help to identify the problem.

Update: Checked all relays (swapped em around, used some new ones to test) - all good. Checked the fuel pressure at the shrader valve - 40psi. Replaced the battery as it was 7 years old. Car cranks but no fire. It has a few times sounded like it was about to fire then nothing. I took the spark plugs out of one bank and there was a smell of gas so cleaned them up and tried but still no dice. Checked the shut off button in the passenger footwell but ok. Before I go through taking out the other bank of four - any ideas? Could it just be flooded? Car has the 3rd gen of tensioners, but as I say the engine is cranking.

You have fuel but do you have spark? Holding the accelerator to the floor when attempting to start the car will cut the fuel off so if flooding is an issue this will help.
