2003 jaguar xjr electrical issue?
Can someone point me in the right direction of where to go with this issue. So i had a loose gas cap that led to a check engine light. 3 autozones were not able to read my check engine light via the obdii port. At the last autozone the guy asked me if my cigarette lighters worked...never using them i was unsure and well long story short the fuse was blown. Replaced it and stuck my finger down the cig lighter to get out a gum wrapper and it sparked up nicely and blew the fuse...my dad was thinking we hae a bad ground wire and need to splice a new one in, but since he is not in my state for another month i wanna tackle it myself....this also led to another check engine light, a transmission fault message, and a abs/traction control failure light...it was like a pretty xmas tree with all the lights. After turnign the car off and drivinga mile all the lights disappeared and the car runs fine, but i think i might have a faulty wire somewhere causing some weird issues...am i heading in the right though process? Thank you for your time!
Could be the engine earth strap, or a weak battery, or the false bulkhead connector under the hood-the system voltage & battery condition is quite important on these cars as they can throw up spurious electrical faults if the battery is weak, or the charging system has high resistance anywhere & is causing a low system voltage...
