Default 2004 Jaguar XJR 2004

My 2004 XJR suddenly popped up a Transmission Fault. It won't shift out of 1st now. I don't think its a physical problem with the transmission as it was shifting smoothly prior to this and I'm fairly confident its not leaking. Is there any chance it's just simply a matter of resetting the codes ? Could it be fluid levels ? Perhaps a stupid sensor somewhere ? Anyone know what's going on here ?

Have you looked for fault codes? We need to know if there are any.

We did hook it up to a code reader this am and nothing came up on the reader for the transmission. I'm hoping to get it into a proper garage sometime tomorrow with a little bit more robust reader. In the mean while I've pulled the battery and have it on charge. Any chance I may have hit or knocked something in the snow that would effect the transmission sensor ?
