225/60 R16 on sport suspension
Hi
I own a 2002 X308 4.0 V8se on its original Sport Supension (green shocks).
As standard, the car is fitted with 225/55 R16 tyres on 8J 16” wheels.
I am getting new tyres for it, and would like to swap to 225/60 R16 (as fitted to early cars with standard suspension) to fill the arches better and give it a bit more comfort, and as I like the look of the higher tyre wall.
Is the switch to these slightly higher tyres on sport suspension advisable?
Has it been done with succes or will it foul the inner arches?
Would probably get the Dunlop BluResponse or Michelin Primacy tyres.

Sorry no one has responded sooner....
To your inquiry, keep in mind tires nowadays are designed way different than ones for your car 18 yrs ago. The sidewalls have better support, the tread patterns are passive to aggressive and the material combinations have been improved immensely. But from a perspective, a taller sidewall will tend to give you a softer smoother ride...sport suspension or not. Tire quality can easily be determined by warranty and cost and the born date which is very important so watch quality tires with a real low price. https://www.tirebuyer.com/education/...-of-your-tires
A reputable seller, or someone you know who knows, will be able to help you with this by pulling out some tires and show you the structure. They should be able to give you multiple choices for your application. There are also web sites that detail this..https://www.ustires.org/howatireismade (the computer generated video is a bit mundane to watch, but there's many live versions on YouTube). You may also wish to go to the top task bar and from the left you'll see Tools, move your mouse over it and you'll see Tire Calculator, which may help you also.

I ran 225/60 on 16" OEM rims for 2 years, before I changed to slightly larger.
I can totally see your desire to move to /60 tires for the reasons you mentioned.
Technically, they do fit, and I do not see any disadvantage with your sport suspension.
You will probably feel not much of a difference going from the /55 to the /60.
Michelin Primacy are great tires, quiet, long lasting, good in rain, I should buy them again without a thought.

In the end I bought 225/55 Michelin Primacy tyres as I was unsure whether the 225/60 would foul the arches.
Having read your comment I might have opted for the 225/60 - next time maybe 😀
