4.0l V8 ran, idled bad, no won't start
Hi there,
I'm still looking around for a new XJ and have come across one Where the owner says that the car ran fine. He parked it and next day started it. After starting it idled bad and was instantly turned off again... Since then it won't start anymore.
He claimed it didn't make any weird noises. Nor did it rattle. It idled bad and that was it - according to him.
Does that sound like the dreaded chain tensioners? If the chains had skipped a tooth or two, then it would probably run a little still - right? Or what are your thoughts? I'm hoping it is something like a fuel pump failure or so...
Cheers
