Default 5hp24 dip stick group buy?

Hey guys,

Many 5hp24 owners (3.2l and 4.0l nonSC V8) would like to service their cars better incl. ATF replacements. Problem is always getting the level right.

There is an aftermarket kit, for about ~$150 plus ~$19 in the States. Comes with installation guide and guides on how to service your tranny. Makes life a lot easier than with the underfloor access. You can also fill the transmission through the stick making an oil service a lot easier... It fits nice and snug in the engine bay (on XK8 n XJ8 models)

I have currently contacted the manufacturer, if he would do a group buy, as I am sure many European owners (and stateside) would want this. A group buy is mostly cheaper than normal prices. And even if it only means shipping is cheaper. I have no worries importing them and then sending them further (depending on customs etc but that can be precalculated and shouldn't be much at all).

So, do we have anyone else who is interested?

I'll start the list. This is NOT a purchase list. It is ONLY a list regarding interest tomsee what interest there is and how many people might want one. This can make a proce negotiation a good bit better...

I would likely be interested depending on final negotiated price.

So, incl. myself there are so far 8 people interested... I also asked around on some German sits but as it looks they prefer to suffer or don't care about their ATF levels...

I'd like to still be driving my X308 in 15 years so it would be good to keep the ATF level maintained and the fluid clean.
Unless I find an XJR I like I'll be keeping this XJ for a long time to come.

Hi Daim,

One word of caution.
There floats a thread on one of the Jaguar sites (I really forgot which one) of an owner installing the stuff.
It was quite a bit of work to get it connected on the engine casing, with a flange in the way, and even mode modifications to get it correct in the engine bay.

I am not sure if it is the same supplier, and if things have improved, but you might want to check on that, just to prevent some disappointment later on.

Seems like they wanted you to cut the hood pad. The guy end up taking the end off cutting the stick down and reattaching the handle as I recall. That was on this board somewhere. I do recall seeing it.

Doesn't really matter much as the seller won't answer any emails...

This is a shame, this is something a lot of us are clearly interested in and would like fitting to preserve our cars.
