I was pointed to this thread by Sean B, after my gearbox started to have issues. I will add that the Transgo Kit can be bought via Ebay.co.uk for £25 - £35 plus shipping (varies) from US sellars

I am glad yours turned out well. I am assuming Transgo experience will go as well. The valve is in the freezer now. I will install tomorrow.

Allowed to drain overnight with the valve body removed. It took 4L to fill dry, then once running and warmed up it took another 2.2L to fill to the "steady stream" point so, 6.2L for PR valve, and filter change.

Have not driven it yet as I am inspecting and detailing undercarriage right now, and will be attempting to check differential fluid. I think cold country folks would be amazed just how clean and rust free a CA car can be underneath, even after 15 years. Edit: Differential Fill plug was actually pretty easy to R&R, I think the coupe may be easier to get to than on the convertibles although there is a substantial cross brace and the sway bar to maneuver around.
Thanks for the cold fill info.

Hi wrd0225,

You've posted your question in the forum for the X308, which has either the ZF 5HP24 or Mercedes-Benz W5A580/722.6. For more information on the 6HP26, see the How To / DIY thread in the stickies for the X350 forum.

Removing the fill plug on the ZF 6HP26 is not usually too difficult if you have the correct tool. On some vehicles, you can access the fill plug with a standard 8 mm Allen hex bit socket, short extension to reach past the exhaust, and a ratchet. On other vehicles, you must grind down the short leg of a standard 8 mm Allen wrench to about 2 cm - 3/4 inch in length so it will fit between the transmission and exhaust. Here's the wrench I modified for use on some X350s:

Cheers,

Don
