Our 97 XJ8 just recently started having problems and I am hoping someone can help me figure out what's wrong. When it's cold and is idling the car shakes pretty hard. Also when you press the gas in drive (hot or cold) it bogs down and hesitates, then starts to go. Any ideas on what this could be and if so what it might cost to fix? We're about to have our first child and I'm considering getting rid of it because the it keeps having problems, when it rains is pours. It was a hand me down to my fiance and I'm not real sure of it's history. Anything helps, thanks.

 

Are you sure it's a 1997 XJ8 ? I didn't think they sold any XJ8s in the USA until model year 1998. How many miles on it ? No history ? Is the Check Engine Light on ?

 

Yeah XJ6, botched that one, thanks for responding and telling me that. It has 155,000 miles on it and yes the check engine light. No history like it's never done this before and I don't anything about the problems it has had before
