Question 99 Jaguar XJ8 - Missing something!

Hey guys, I have been going through diagrams, talking to Jag techs and other random mechanics and I am having no luck. I picked up this 99 Jag XJ8 really cheap because it was missing a transmission. Putting the car back together I have run into a connector that I can't figure out what it goes to. I believe it is a 10 pin connector and it plugs into something on the same rail that the O2 sensor connectors mount to. Does anyone have any idea what component that is that's missing? Thanks!

I would post pictures, but I can't really get a camera to the location. It's right on the top middle of the transmission.

Does the connector come FROM the trans or FROM the engine bay?

Having trouble cutting and pasting- it sounds like you are talking about the transmission connector:

Rotary Switch Connector
The rotary switch, mounted on the right-hand
side of the casing, has a spline arrangement
which prevents misalignment with the selector
shaft. A locating pin and two bolts secure the
rotary switch to the transmission casing. This
locates the switch with the transmission casing
and the shaft in one place only. The switch
requires no other setting up procedure.
A 10-way connector with flying lead connects the
rotary switch to the engine management
harness. The connector is retained on a multiconnector
bracket bolted to the transmission
casing/torque converter housing joint.

For those interested in 99 Vanden Plas parts at an excellent price contact
Robbie @ 469 358 0643 {thats Garland Texas near Dallas Airport}
I found Robbie on Craigs list and picked up a working cup holder and the map console wood cover > Both for $20.00.
The vehicle has no engine but a lot of body parts . Color black ext tan/ grey interior.
HAS ALL DASH and Control panels complete , head light bezels , seat { someone got picnic tables}
Since Robbie has got his purchase price for the vehicle he has everything listed for a total of $650.00 .
So if your looking for parts for 1999+ XJ here is a great place to get them .

Moderator perhaps you can post in a more appropriate location.

Default May be the Transmission Rotary Switch Connector

Based on your picture it looks like it is the Transmission Rotary Switch Connector:
99 Jaguar XJ8 - Missing something!-trans-rot-sw.jpg

Your pictures shows that 7 of the 10 cavities are used (likely A,B,C,D,E,J & K) I can not tell from the picture for sure. Also I can not see the colour of the wires entering the connector.
Based on the attached schematic it looks like this connector attached to a "pigtail" and not directly to the switch.
Hopefully this helps.
