I'm new to the forum and just got a XJR. The previous owner reccomended a new battery before we move into the hot weather(I'm in FL). Any particular brand reccomended or required?

 

I got an exact fit replacement for my 1999 XJR from my local NAPA dealer 6+ years ago - still going strong. @$75, as I recall, but that was then....

Interstate batteries MTP 93. 850 cold cranking amps, like 7 year warranty (prorated), maybe $130 retail. That will be more than adequate for reliable service and warranty coverage at locations anywhere in the U.S.

 

is this battery vented?

 

Not sure where you are in the world but Pep Boys sells a direct replacement with proper vent under the "Bosch" brand for less than $100.00 with a very long warranty

Only a few companies make batteries -- all the rest are just rebadged. The same size is used in a lot of european cars.


The OE that Jag uses is a high quality battery - unfortunately it is at least twice the price.
