Default ABS mod repair

So I finally got the dreaded failure codes today on my XJR (have had them on the xk8 since I got it and have not done a perm. fix myself re-soldering it for a long term fix. Works for a couple months and then its back). Where have others who aren't electrically sparky sent theirs and were they happy with the fix? Thinking about the place on ebay in mass as it is closest so I should have 'em back sooner.

Give Darryl Turner a call at 858-649-9090. He does very good work on module repairs. I don't know particulars for ABS Module but he has done a couple of modules for me. He is retired navy electronics tech and is in San Diego California

ASI in Tenn. has a good reputation. Most repair services just solder the pins, but ASI also tests the modules to see if there are other problems with the circuits.

You should be able to get a permanent fix yourself. The biggest problem is not getting a good joint. You need to scrape the insulation from around the post first, and use enough heat get the solder to flow, then use epoxy to reseal. I even use flux and silver solder, but than it's necessary to remove the excess flux with q tips and water.

I don't have any personal experience with this company but I did notice this today while browsing their site.

Getting it off and out is the hardest part of the whole damn job, the cutting open is easy, the soldering is easy and bonding it shut is easy. Takes half an hour to do, plenty of non tech guys have carried out this fix and saved a few bob($$$) not to mention the boost in confidence you can carry out your very own repairs. Just do it

I had this problem too on my XJ8...intermittent ABS on and then permanently on....I researched the self repair and tried it...pain in the butt.....in the end I got a guaranteed reconditioned module off ebay, easy fit,not that much money and no problem since, and this was months ago.
