Question ABS Module bolt problem! STUCK and need suggestions!

I'm trying to remove my ABS module to solder the loose joints (assuming that is what's causing the trac/stability failure, abs lights)

I had a member link me to this thread, and feel confident to do the repair.

http://www.jag-lovers.org/snaps/snap...?id=1230845126

Tonight I tried to remove the ABS module, and got started rather well. I was able to disconnect the plug, and remove the first 11mm hydraulic bolt. I got stuck on the 13mm bolt.

I tried to use a 13mm dog bone to break the bolt free, but it didn't budge. I want to have a little advise before I break something.

Should I use a 13mm crows foot, breaker bar, and extension to free the bolt?

Is there any other set of tools I should buy to complete the task, or will the crows foot idea be fine??

I took pictures but can't link them to the thread, but it's visible in step 3 of the link above.

Any help would be great!

I dont ever take the lines off. too many problems with trapped air in brake system and potential line leakage. You can bend them enough to the side to take out the bolts on the module and slide it off. oh but unbolt the abs bracket from the car so you can maneuver it

I'll try that. One issue, I've already taken one of the lines off, and had a little break fluid drip out.

Is there any procedure to do to clear the air if any is in there?

Question Need some help / ideas ABS related

O.K., I have removed the ABS module, cut it open, and the connections were fine........

I have no idea what the problem is now.

I have a 1999 XJ8, and saw the ABS light, trac/stability warnings, and began the process of repair.

I cleaned the wheel speed sensors, changed the battery (not directly related, but put the correct size in the vehicle). I removed the ABS sensor, and found the connections in tact.

I have the ABS module gluing back together, and the car sitting in the driveway.

What else could be the problem?

Could the sensors look fine, and still be the source?

Could the ABS module still be bad?

Should I replace the ABS module while I have it out?

Need some help!

The module has all the DTC info you need in it's non-volitile memory in the form of 'C' codes (Chassis codes) You could have it scanned for DTCs or keep throwing parts at it until it is fixed. It might be worth the price of a dealer scan to know what part of the circuit you should focus on. (could be as simple as one of the front wheel speed link harnesses)

+1 to the ex-jag tech advice above! Before you do anything else to attempt a quick fix, solicit the advice of the dealer's special equipment

I am sending the ABS module out for inspection & repair while it's out. After it is returned, I'll go directly to have the car checked.

It might be worth knowing what to repair!

If you have a Vantage scope try testing the wave pattern of each wheel speed sensor to see if one sensor is bad
