Question ABS Module Removal - XJ

I have read the blow-by-blows on pulling the ABS module, but the XJ orientation is different from the XK. The issue is how to get at the lower E5 star bolts. On my '01 XJ the heads are just a half inch or so from the frame member. (Whose idea was that?)

I thought about vise grips and a stubby socket but it is really cramped to get in there, especially if not removing the brake lines. Any clever solutions or tool that makes it easier?

Thanks

I used vice grips (small ones from Harbor Freight) to hold the star socket. It was difficult but not impossible. Patience is the key. I removed brake lines first. I had to anyway - would not have been able to get module past the actuators on the pump if they were still in place.
The bolts are not on too tight - once I broke them with the socket and vice grips, I was able to do the rest with my fingers.

A quarter inch ratchet wrench would work wonders.

Ya - Got one of those. Used it on the top bolts. No good on the bottom ones. Maybe I had the wrong adapter.

Thanks all.

No way to get a ratchet on the bottom bolts - this is the difference on the XJ8. I am trying to find an E5 box end wrench somewhere or else I may go at it again with vice grips and a stubby socket.
