If you do a google search on xj8 ABS ring removal you'll get a stack of answers including this

I understand the cheapest approach is to use an American Screwdriver (cold chisel) and replace with new.

I took my hub into a local machine shop and was surprised to find that they do them all the time. Twenty bucks and a few minutes later they had changed the bearing (that I provided)and put the ABS ring back on.

John,

It takes a special socket to remove the rotor nut:

Even with this, it can take a very long extension on the breaker bar. Taking the hub to a local independent Jaguar repairer could save a lot of grief.

Default abs ring

thanks for all the advice, i have now managed to buy a new abs ring for £25.00 delivered and i got the old one off with the hammer and chisel, it took plenty of effort and rendered it useless , but at £25 its cheaper to buy a new one than to buy the special tool at around £130

Default coolant

Hi again and thanks for all the advice, but i now have another problem,i went for a drive after putting my hub back together and when the car reached normal temoerature a warning came up saying " LOW COOLANT LEVEL" but as the gauge read normal i carried on, after sitting in traffic for about five minutes steam started pouring out of the bonnet, when i checked the top hose had blown off, i do not think the fans are working but the gauge still read normal, any ideas? and is there a special way to fill the system

Heres Hoping

"Low coolant" is one of those pesky warnings that should not be ignored. If you read this forum, you'll find out that Jag temperature indicator is LYING, most of the time. You can replace it with "Real Gauge" (sold by a guy on the forum), or OBEY the warnings. Jag coolant has to be filled all the way to the top, even a slight drop will trigger the warning. There is also the floater in the sending unit that gets stuck, and sends "low coolant" message.

All that said,......whenever this message comes up (and it happened to me before I became an avid reader of this forum, MANY times) you need to pull over and check what's going on. I know it's too late now, and let's hope that there is no damage.

Do the search on this forum, and you will learn why the hoses blow off, and what to do to remedy this problem.

Good luck.

+1 to daniel. If you can't find an answer (and I'm sure you will) start a new thread.
The Forum search engine has been upgraded but I still get better results with a well worded Google query.
It almost always brings up JF as the first item.
I've marked this thread 'Resolved' to help others.

You can always add the additional search term: site:jaguarforums.com to limit all results to those found on JF. The additional benefit is that it returns *all* pages covering the other search terms rather than just the top results for the domain.
