Default AC Compressor & receiver/drier

I need to replace the AC compressor and receiver/drier in my car. Does anyone have recommendations for brands to use? I realize that this question is probably similar to asking what oil is best, but I'm looking for direct experience with components that you've used. I know that Denso is the OEM supplier, and my inclination is to buy a new Denso vs remanufactured. Just weighing my options. I appreciate any advice!

I would stay with a Denso, but definitely avoid Chinese. It's likely that a lot of rebuilds are done with Chinese parts, but I don't know for sure. Change the pressure reduction valve also.

Where is the pressure reduction valve located?

Not sure on the XJR. It should be where the A/C lines go through the firewall.

The workshop manual seems to say that the expansion valve is next to the evaporator, inside the dash. I also came across another thread from addictedtoboost where he had disassembled the dash to replace the evaporator and expansion valve, which further leads me to believe that it's pretty well tucked away in there! I'll check where the lines go through the firewall when I get a chance, but if it's inside the dash near the evaporator, I will likely just replace the compressor and the receiver/drier, and assume that the expansion valve is ok for now.

I would do the same. On many cars it can be removed from the engine compartment, but Jaguar has a propensity to make simple things difficult.
