I have XJ8 1998 model - the problem is when i hit the pedal at 50mph the car will not kick down a gear or accelerate as it used to - if I use the gear stick and go down the gears the car kicks down and acclerates as it should. Can anyone help and explain what may be the problem? Is there a electronic switch or something similar that may need replacing ?

 

The sports mode is on but still get the same problem.
