Default After market key fob

Good afternoon all ,
I've got an aftermarket key ( flip kind ) that I'm having trouble programming.
The originals are reprogramming fine but I can't get it to program. I took it to a auto shop and read the frequency ! They are the same , am I missing something or do the dealers have special tools .
Thanks Geoff

Is this the procedure your following? ....this is from eHow and it worked on mine. But then again, mines a 2000 VDP.

While the Jaguar is known as a luxury vehicle, it features some of the same simple technologies seen on standard cars around the world. One such technology, the keyless entry capability, can be synced to as many as four different remotes. You can program your own key FOB remote in just seconds from your driver's seat and use it to control your vehicle's door locks and trunk release.

Open the driver's door of your Jaguar and pull the high beam switch towards you as you sit in the driver's seat.

Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "ACC" position.

Release the high beam selector with your key in the ignition, and pull and release it four more times.

Wait for the system to chime after the fourth pull and press the "Lock" button on your remotes to program them to the system.

Wait for a chime after each remote and remove your key from the ignition when finished.

I wonder if you can link any other FOB than the original x308 design to your car. Frankly I don't think so.
If you can, I will be very interested to upgrade as well.

The key that came with it didn't fit , so I cut up the spare key I had and glued it in . Mm thought it would work but key will not turn now . Looks like maybe it had a chip inside the key . So back to original set. I'm off on holidays so I'll tackle it when I get back.
Must be a way !!!
Thanks will update soon

You have to change out the chip and the key blade:

Follow the directions in the thread exactly, try again.
