Hi i need help in removing what seems to be a air pocket in my radiator. Can someone please help! Ive got a 99 xj8 and i have had it for about 3-4 years. Thanks!

 

I have had this same problem. Here is what was recommended to me, and it seems to work. With the engine cold, remove the capfrom the coolant reservoir (near the firewall on the left side of the car). Start the engine andlet the car idle. You will see air bubbles in the reservoir, and the coolant level will drop as the air escapes. Run the caruntil you stop seeing air bubbles. Note that the bubbles will probably be intermittent rather than constant. This should take about 10-15 minutes. Top off the coolant and replace the cap. If you geta low coolant warning after driving the car for a while, repeat the procedure.

I found out about this shortly after I bought my car (also a '99 XJ8). The person who sold me the car had the water pump replaced just before it was delivered, and whoever installed the pump apparently didn't realize that Jaguar cooling systems have to bepurged of airafter they are refilled.The carhad a low coolant warning as soon as it was unloaded from the truck, which gave me a bit of a start. Fortunately the fix was easy.

If you keep getting air in your cooling system after this, you should check for leaks.
