Wow! .....that is weird, I assume some strange ECU malfunction?

Lucky you weren't sat in the car at the time, could have done some damage to you.

Now you have the problem of fixing the damned thing.

Yeah, I am very lucky I wasn’t driving at the time. Weirdest thing I’ve ever had happen to me as a 6 time Jaguar owner.

If that happened to me driving there’s a reasonable chance I’d have been so startled I’d have run into something and needed the other bag. You’re very fortunate. What’s the fix? A whole new seat?

In the same vein, somewhere within the last few days I saw a sign (Jag I think) saying airbags should be replaced after 15 years. My car’s 19 calendar years old. I wonder if there will slowly be an increase in episodes such as this. I also wonder if other makes of similar vintage have had this occur.

That’s now my question ...”what’s the fix”?
A new seat isn’t necessary, it can be sewn back together at the seam, where the airbag came through. I have already ordered a replacement airbag, my issue is how to get the original issue diagnosed and fixed before replacing the airbag.
