I have an 98 x300, just recently the airbag light started coming on when the car brakes or accelerates sharply, it stays on until the engine is switched off and then goes off again and repeats the process again. Any ideas?

check the wiring under the drivers seat, you'll have to move it all the way forward, maybe unbolt it, it's 4 torx bolts at each corner of the seat, tip it forward and carefully inspect each wire and connection. My guess is there isn't a fault with the bags, but the wiring chaffed somewhere.... I'd suspect the drivers seat if no passenger is present.
