Default Alternative trans options

I need a transmission for this 98 xj8. I have babied this thing since I got it and the trans is now out.
Is there a conversion out there that would make it possible to put a chevy or ford trans in this car. Also do you think it would be cheaper to do a change over like this or spend the 2Gs to replace my stock transmission.
I am thinking of possibly parting the vehicle out since the rest of the car is in great condition but was afraid Id only sell a few key items and be stuck with a car that was completly unusable.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You are dreaming to consider any other transmission, except MAYBE the XJR box. The electronics are simply too intertwined to make such a thing practical. And the XF box apparenlty had some shortcomings, but they are now mostly identified and corrected. Get your box rebuilt for about $2,300. and let life go on. BTW, there are plenty of Ford or GM boxes that expire at a little over 100,000 miles.

yes they give out early sometimes as well, but you can replace them for $400 -$500 not $2,000.
