My damn ash tray lid will not stay closed now, really odd as it hasn't been used during my tenure ?! I don't see any catches on the underside, any tricks to keep it secure ?!

 

The catch is part of the hinge mechanism, and honestly it probably just needs to be cleaned. Unfortunately, the only way to get to the hinges is to take the ash tray out from the underside. Maybe if you take out the cubby tray liner, or the trim around the shifter, you could squirt some electrical contact cleaner around under there and hope you hit the sticky spot.....?? Just thinking out loud there, but I think the only way you can get to the mechanism is from the underside.

 

Yeah that's an ordeal to remove the entire console lol. I'll look around when the heat downgrades from Hell to Hades.
