I finished my 3.5" intake today. I used 1 90° bend, 1 45° bend, 1 90° silicone elbow, and 1 straight silicone coupler from silicone intake systems. I didn't need a straight section of aluminum. I used a 3/4" barb to NPT elbow fitting from summit racing to adapt to the PCV line. I cut the NPT threads off and had it welded so it's flush on the inside. I also reused the OE connector at the valve cover and linked them with 3/4" PCV breather hose.
I tried to go 4" but there was just no way to make the silicone elbow at the throttle body work. A 3.5" can just clear the hood with a little squish, and it fits over a trimmed OE throttle gasket very nicely. Overall I am super stoked on this one. It came out great. The last move is to make the other side of the stock airbox bigger to match. Not sure how I'm going to do that yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Overall getting this welded was definitely the move. All of the versions with lots of couplers are perfectly functional, but more expensive and a little less sightly IMHO.
I know! I need to put some miles on it first and see how it goes. The cost is a little hard to swallow
It should be alright with the stock MAF, but will be better with the Pro-M. I'm going to do a 3.5" carbon fiber tube when I fit the TS kit. I'm up to $255 plus tax and shipping with the minimum pieces that I think will work.
